Jefferson County Corrections Division

By state law, Washington Sheriffs are responsible for operating jails and providing jail services. The Jefferson County Jail is a 57-bed facility located at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, 81 Elkins Rd, Port Hadlock WA 98339. Corrections Deputies are specially commissioned and qualify to carry department-issued firearms. They have career development tracks and can become certified instructors in defensive tactics, less lethal weapons, firearms, and field training. Corrections Officers' shifts are varied and include twelve-hour day and night shifts on a four-on, four-off and three-on, three-off rotation.

The county covers 85 percent of medical, dental, and vision premiums. The Corrections State Retirement Plan PSERS II provides full retirement at age 65 with at least five years of service credit, or at age 60 with ten years of PSERS service.
