Wenatchee Booking Releases

Wenatchee booking releases come from two main sources. The Wenatchee Police Department Records Division holds city police records and arrest reports. The Chelan County Regional Justice Center holds the jail booking data for people in county custody. Wenatchee is the seat of Chelan County. To search Wenatchee booking releases you can file a request with WPD Records, use the city clerk for non-police records, or check the Chelan County Regional Justice Center inmate list. This page walks through each path.

Wenatchee Police Booking Releases

The Wenatchee Police Department is the first stop for Wenatchee booking releases tied to a city arrest. The Records Division is on the first floor of the Police Department. The customer service window is at the walk-up counter in the lobby. The physical address is 140 South Mission Street, Wenatchee, WA. Mail goes to P.O. Box 519, Wenatchee, WA 98807-0519. The phone is (509) 888-4200. The email is wpdrecords@wenatcheewa.gov. Fax is (509) 888-4219.

Visit the Wenatchee Police Department page to start a request. For police records use the WPD Public Records Request Form (PDF). For a crash report use the Accident/Collision Report Request Form (PDF). The accident report fee is $10.00.

Note: Do not use the city online portal to request police records. The city sends police asks through the WPD records division instead.

City of Wenatchee General Records

For general city records that are not police related, the City of Wenatchee runs an online public records portal. The city clerk manages that portal. The City Clerk's Office is at 301 Yakima Street, P.O. Box 519, Wenatchee, WA 98807-0519. Email is cityclerk@wenatcheewa.gov. Phone is (509) 888-3604.

Use the Wenatchee general public records portal for non-police requests. The page hosts the general records form, the public disclosure policy, and info on fees. The city must respond to all requests under RCW 42.56 within five business days.

Standard copy fees follow the state default. Prior to making any copies the city may require a deposit of up to 10 percent of the estimated fee. The city's public records officer may waive any fee when the total estimated fee is $5.00 or less. That small-fee waiver is a helpful feature for people who only need a few pages.

Chelan County Regional Justice Center

Anyone arrested in Wenatchee and booked into the county jail goes through the Chelan County Regional Justice Center. The facility is at 401 Washington Street, Wenatchee, WA 98801. The phone is 509-667-6462. The jail is a 383-bed facility that serves a population of over 94,000 and covers more than 5,000 square miles. Satellite buildings include a 42-bed minimum security facility and a 66-bed direct supervision minimum security facility.

The jail facilitates court appearances for inmates at Chelan and Douglas County Superior and District Courts and East Wenatchee Municipal Court. Chelan County Regional Justice Center also houses Douglas County inmates under a contract. Look up a Wenatchee arrestee at the Regional Justice Center inmate list.

For broader sheriff records, visit the Chelan County Sheriff's Office page. The sheriff handles records for unincorporated county areas tied to Wenatchee.

Court Records Tied to Wenatchee Arrests

The Chelan County District Court is a Court of Limited Jurisdiction created in 1961. It hears criminal, civil, infraction, and miscellaneous cases, including cases that would normally be filed in a municipal court for the cities of Wenatchee, Leavenworth, Cashmere and Chelan. Visit the Chelan County District Court page for calendars and case access.

The Chelan County Superior Court Clerk's Office manages court records for all cases filed in Chelan County Superior Court. The courthouse is at 350 Orondo Avenue in Wenatchee. The Superior Court page provides forms, calendars, jury info, and instructions for accessing case records and filing documents.

State Sources for Wenatchee Booking Releases

Beyond the local tools, the state holds extra data. The Washington DOC Incarcerated Search is free. It shows people held in state prison. Use it when a Wenatchee arrestee has moved past the county jail and into state custody. The DOC also runs a Wanted for Arrest page with active warrants.

The Washington State Patrol runs a paid background check. Use the WSP Criminal History page to order a report. The VINELink site is a free victim notification tool that sends alerts when an inmate is released.

Statutes and Wenatchee Records Limits

Under RCW 70.48.100 jail records are confidential. The jail can only share the arrestee name, the date and time of booking, the reason for booking, the date and time of release, and the reason for release. All other jail data is held back.

The Public Records Act at RCW 42.56 covers the rest of the police records held by WPD. The city must respond in five business days. Some records are exempt. Ongoing investigation files are one example. The Wenatchee Police Department charges body worn camera fees under WCC 1.99.070, and the Chief of Police may waive any fee that is $2.00 or less.

In Person Visits for Wenatchee Booking Releases

You can drop in during normal business hours to ask about Wenatchee booking releases. Bring a photo ID and the case number if you have one. Staff can check the file and tell you if it is ready to release or still part of an open case. The Wenatchee Police Department handles most walk-in questions tied to Wenatchee. Plan to spend a bit of time at the counter if the file is older or needs a fresh review.

The WPD Records Division is a good first contact if you need to know which office holds a specific file. Call (509) 888-4200 ahead of time to confirm hours and any holiday closures. A phone call before the visit saves a wasted trip when the office is closed for lunch or for training.

Note: If you need a case number to start a search, ask the front desk to run a name lookup. Staff can often find a case tied to a recent Wenatchee booking in just a few minutes.

Older cases may take longer since the file could be in archive storage. Archive retrieval can add a few days to the turnaround. The office will let you know up front if the file needs to be pulled from an off-site location.

For Chelan County arrests that moved from a Wenatchee traffic stop into the county jail, the fastest path is to check the county jail roster first, then file a separate records request with the agency that made the arrest.
