Redmond Police Records Request

Requests for police records in Redmond should go through the Police Records Request Portal. When you fill out the form, be sure to select the "Police Records Request" box. Requests are processed in the order received. Anything sent after 5 p.m. counts as received the next business day. The Records team works each request fairly and keeps you up to date on the status.

There is a charge for copies of public records. The department takes Visa, MasterCard, personal checks, or business checks. Cash payments must be made in person at the City Hall Customer Service Desk. You will need to ask for an invoice at the Police Records Counter first.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The department prefers online submission, but you can still come in person, mail, or fax a request if needed. Most folks find the portal is the fastest path for a Redmond booking release.

Redmond Booking Releases Response Time

Per RCW 42.56, the department has five business days to respond to a request. Within those five days, they may send the requested copies, deny the request, or send a letter saying more time is needed because of the volume of requests or legal review. If more time is needed, you will get an estimated date of completion.

Public records are subject to disclosure unless an exemption applies. If part of your request is exempt, the records team will tell you which law covers it. The Records Division also queues open requests one at a time per requester, so they can keep working through every request from the public.

Note: RCW 42.56.520 sets the five business day response rule statewide.

Redmond Police Data and Information

The Redmond Police Data page lists the most common requests and where to send them. Accident report forms are available at the police department or on the Washington State Patrol website. If an officer did not write a report after a collision, state law says you must fill out the form if damage to a vehicle exceeds $1,000 or if anyone was hurt.

Background checks and criminal history go through Washington State Patrol's WATCH program at 360-534-2000. The CIS Records team responds to immigration related requests within five business days. Concealed Pistol License applications now move through a new online system. Paper and in-person CPL applications are not accepted at this time.

Traffic Reports and Redmond Records

You can get a traffic collision report from Washington State Patrol without going through the local police records process. The state runs a Collision Report Search where the public can buy a copy of a report. Reports are usually available 48 to 72 hours after the report is approved. This saves you a step if you only need the crash report.

If your need ties to a Redmond booking release, you may still need to file a city records request. Crash reports and arrest records are not always part of the same file. The Redmond Records team can tell you if they overlap.

King County Jail and Redmond

Most people booked by Redmond Police end up at the King County Correctional Facility in downtown Seattle or the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. The King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention runs the inmate lookup tool. It is the easiest way to confirm a current Redmond booking release tied to a county jail intake.

Jail registers are public under RCW 70.48.100. The roster shows name, charges, and intake date. Booking photos are not public except in narrow cases.
